What’s happening at the DEIC?
Happy Holidays from us to you!
This will be our last newsletter of the year, so we want to be sure to wish everyone Happy Holidays! 2024 was an amazing year for our organization, with new programs, stronger partnerships, more support for our portfolio companies, big funding wins, and increased local presence. Some highlights of our year include:
- Completing our 5th(!) DEIC Accelerate cohort.
- Cohosting the first Energy Tech Conference, which drew 200 industry innovators from across the Commonwealth.
- Introducing new programs, including Hyperscaled, our new accelerator track, Precursor, our new pre-acceleration program, and GreenTech Navigator, our technical support program for Virginia companies.
- Attending at A LOT of industry events, including Distributech, NREL’s Camp Cleantech, RE+ MidAtlantic, the Next Grid Alliance Summit, the Virginia Clean Energy Summit, and others.
- Supporting farmers and other local producers with the Ag X workshops, producer roundtables, and more.
- Adding Ida Pierce to our staff as Program Manager.
- Hosting or cohosting regular events such as Coffee & Connect open houses, Lunch & Learns, and Energy Tech meet ups.
- Winning over $1.3M in federal funding through various DOE programs (see below for the latest!) and helping our founders find funding, too!
- Supporting area small businesses through our Center Street Pitch competition and educational events.
- Increasing DEIC’s visibility and supporting energy entrepreneurs across the state through events such as IdeaFest, Tom Tom, Game Changer Week, and more.
- We’re looking forward an even more exciting 2025. Thank you for being part of the DEIC!
