Dominion Energy Innovation Center Awarded GO Virginia Funding for Strategic Cluster Advancement for Leading Energy (SCALE) Project

Ashland, VA – The Dominion Energy Innovation Center (DEIC) has been awarded $154,391 in GO Virginia funding to study and catalyze advanced energy supply chains through a new project, Strategic Cluster Advancement for Leading Energy, or SCALE. The project is designed to build toward a focused hub for advanced electrical power systems and grid technologies in GO Virginia Regions 4 and 5, which cover much of eastern Virginia, including the Greater Richmond region, the Tri-Cities, and Hampton Roads.

Dominion Energy Innovation Center Announces 2026 Accelerate Program Participants

Ashland, VA – The Dominion Energy Innovation Center (“DEIC”) has announced the seven companies participating in its signature DEIC Accelerate utility deployment accelerator program. 
Launched in 2020, Accelerate is DEIC’s virtual accelerator connecting energy and grid startups with their next major utility customers. During the program, DEIC helps cohort companies connect with industry experts, navigate Virginia’s energy ecosystem, and explore pilot projects with Dominion Energy and other commercialization partners across the Commonwealth.

Ashland, VA — The Dominion Energy Innovation Center (“DEIC”) announced the eight finalists selected to compete in the 2026 SPARK Virginia Innovation Challenge, taking place March 10 at the Science Museum of Virginia as part of the 2026 Energy Tech event. SPARK Virginia is designed to elevate high-potential energy and climate technology ventures advancing commercialization and strengthening Virginia’s innovation economy. Selected finalists represent breakthrough technologies and services across critical infrastructure, advanced energy systems, manufacturing, robotics, and supply chain resilience.

Dominion Energy Innovation Center Announces Innovation Road Trips with University of Tennessee Spark Innovation Center

Ashland, VA – The Dominion Energy Innovation Center (“DEIC”) has announced two Innovation Road Trips with the University of Tennessee Spark Innovation Center (UT Spark). DEIC and UT Spark were awarded an Innovation Incubator (IN 2) Channel Partner Strategic Award in April 2025. The program, founded by Wells Fargo and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, focuses on funding a network of incubators, accelerators, and university programs as key stakeholders in the transition to a future low-carbon economy.

Torev Motors and SCALED Technologies Win SPARK VIRGINIA Innovation Challenge at Energy Tech 2025

Richmond, VA – The SPARK VIRGINIA Innovation Challenge, held during the Energy Tech 2025 Conference, has announced its winners: Torev Motors as the Grand Prize winner ($7,500) and SCALED Technologies as the Runner-Up ($2,500). The competition, hosted at the Science Museum of Virginia, showcased eight of Virginia’s most promising energy startups, each pitching groundbreaking solutions to a panel of investors, executives, and energy leaders.
