Program Manager – Dominion Energy Innovation Center

The Dominion Energy Innovation Center (DEIC) is excited to open its search for a Program Manager who is eager to join a growing entrepreneurial support organization supporting the clean tech economy in Virginia and beyond. The posted position is available either as a full time W2 role or on a contract basis, depending on the qualified candidate pool. The position is hybrid, with the amount of time in the office to be sorted out during the hiring process. This position is intended for a Virginia resident.

About the DEIC

The Dominion Energy Innovation Center, located in Ashland, supports early-stage advanced technology companies by providing them with the collaborative space, guidance, and resources needed to accelerate their growth. Founded in November 2009, the Dominion Energy Innovation Center supports great ideas across a wide spectrum of industry sectors in addition to its focus on building the climate technology sector in Central Virginia. Founding partners of the Center include the signature sponsor, Dominion Energy, as well as Activation Capital, the Town of Ashland and Hanover County. DEIC’s main programs include the DEIC Accelerate program for energy-focused startups, and the DEIC Greentech Network, a virtual incubator providing opportunities for startups around the United States. DEIC is proud of our partnerships with several other leading entrepreneurial resource organizations, including the the Virginia Accelerator Network, the American Made Challenge Connector Program, and the Wells Fargo-NREL IN2 Incubator program.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Work with the Executive Director and Program Director to support the DEIC Accelerate program, a leading energy technology accelerator that pairs startups with Dominion Energy and other potential customers for a curated business development process. Help stand up and manage a new track of the accelerator, DEIC Hyperscaled, to focus on solutions related to data center growth in Virginia.
  • Oversee the development of several new projects designed to support early stage entrepreneurs, including rolling out an educational certificate program and planning high impact events.
  • Research business, fundraising, and technology trends and maintain startup databases.
  • Represent DEIC with external stakeholders including startups, utilities, industry partners, and government staff.
  • Contribute to grant writing processes.
  • Assist the team in developing regular reports, including metrics tracking, for the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Genuine excitement for helping startup businesses thrive.
  • Excellent organizational and relationship management skills.
  • A relevant undergrad or graduate degree, preferably in business or engineering.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience, preferably in energy, sustainability, non-profit, or entrepreneurial support.
  • Proficiency or better with standard business software, such as MS Office, Adobe, website CMS, Mailchimp, Squarespace, Slack, Eventbrite.
